Good Communication Is The Secret Ingredient To Online Marketing Success

By Andrew Humphreys

Internet marketing can be overwhelming, especially when you are a beginner and just starting to learn about the field. You've likely already read many articles and forum posts that are filled with information on how to be the next "big thing". They are going to appear to negate each other.

One list will tell you that becoming an IM success is all about exercising patience. Another will say that you must be very smart about business if you want to be the next big thing. Nonetheless, others will say that creativity is the key to wild and fabulous success. And don't forget about all of the pages telling you that the software program they are offering is what will help you become the next big thing.

Know this fact: The rest of these things are essential (not so much the software package, but the others). Business smarts, creativity and patience are all extremely essential to your success. None of these things will matter much, though, if you are not able to communicate well with others.

Good communication means more than merely creating a fantastic sales page. A seasoned copywriter can handle that component of your project. A pretty website and extensive FAQ are not what you need for good communication. You can have a pretty site with an extensive FAQ section by employing experienced web site designers and writers. If you wish to be an effective communicator, you must acquire interpersonal communication skills, not just straightforward copywriting. So, what do you need to do that?

1. Reply to each e-mail you get in one day. We aren't trying to joke with you. You don't have to write a a long reply for every last email. You can merely inform the person who emailed you that you've gotten his email and will be getting back to him soon. It is a good idea to include a snippet of the message the other person has written when you do this. This helps the person you email tell your mail apart from the autoreplies that other online marketers utilize.

2. Answer calls. Being a call screener is lame. When your phone starts ringing, pick it up before it rings three times. Make sure you do this even if the Caller ID tells you that the call is from a person that you truly do not wish to talk to. You'd be happy to know that there is an exemption to this specific rule. You do not have to answer your phone all day. Instead of this, specify clear "business" hours that you will be available during for phone calls. Put these hours up on your website and include them in your voice mail message. And, of course, every person who leaves a message deserves to have his call returned.

3. Check with individuals to make sure that they have gotten your memos, emails, messages, etc. This will tell the person that you truly care about keeping in touch with them. It will help your clients and customers trust you further if you genuinely take the time to ask if they have any questions about your messages so that they can ask you to clarify anything they need clarified.
